The University of South Africa (Unisa) recently announced the extension for 2024 admission applications has been extended.

This extension provides prospective undergraduate students with additional time to prepare and submit their applications. This also provides individuals who missed the opportunity to apply during the official application period.

Individuals still have the opportunity to submit applications for a wide array of academic programmes, including Higher Certificates, Advanced Certificate, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, and Degree programs.

Unisa Undergraduate Qualification Applications

The window for applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2024 academic year opened on 1 September 2023 and closed applications on 13 October 2023. However, the university extended applications which are set to allow more students to join the country’s largest university in 2024.

Prospective students are urged to submit their applications before 17 November 2023 as it remains unclear whether applications will open again for the 2024 academic year.

Who Must Apply?

Unisa emphasises that all individuals embarking on a new qualification must complete an admission application. This requirement extends to first-time applicants and existing students seeking a change in their qualifications or area of specialisation.

Individuals who previously applied for admission but were not offered placement or opted not to register after receiving a placement offer must also reapply for admission.

New applicants are permitted to apply for a maximum of two qualifications. Upon a successful application, candidates have the choice to accept or decline Unisa's offer, with the condition of accepting only one offer.

Students completing a higher certificate or any other programmes and aiming to pursue further undergraduate studies must also apply during this application period.
