The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has released the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results for 2024.
The IEB announced that the matric class of 2024 achieved a matric pass rate of 98.47%. 89.37% of matrics got Bachelors Passes, 7.56% got Diploma Passes, 1.53% got Higher Certificate Passes and 0.02% got Endorsed Passes.
Should candidates be unsatisfied with their matric results, they are able to request a re-mark with applications closing on 31 January 2025. These IEB matric re-mark results will then be released on 1 March 2025.
How IEB Exam Re-marks Work
The IEB matric exam remarks allow students to request a re-marking of their examination papers if they believe that their results do not accurately reflect their performance.
This process aims to address any potential errors or oversights that may have occurred during the initial marking of the papers.
How To Request A Re-mark
The process of requesting a remark is straightforward. Candidates can find all the details and information on how the process works for this with the results that they receive as they are given together.
Candidates can then apply online (if required and necessary) directly to the IEB via their website as the school cannot apply on their behalf. All applications for this must be submitted to the IEB by the due date which will be released with the results.
Once your re-mark request is submitted, the IEB then reviews the examination papers and assigns them to experienced examiners for re-marking.
IEB Matric Rewrites
Candidates can apply for a matric rewrite with the next rewrite opportunity being in May/June 2025. Applications for the May 2025 matric exam rewrite will be open from 1 March until 14 March.
