The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) evaluated millions of SRD grant applications in August 2024. Those who were rejected and submitted an appeal can now check their Sassa grant appeal status.
Nearly nine million people apply for the social relief of distress (SRD) grant every month. Once approved, SRD grant beneficiaries receive a Sassa payment of R370 per month.
If you applied for the R370 grant, were declined and appealed, you can check your appeal status online through the Sassa SRD website. This status check will inform you whether your application was approved, rejected, or is still pending.
Checking Your SRD Grant Appeal Status
If you submitted an SRD grant appeal, you can check the status of your appeal to see if the ITSAA upheld or overturned Sassa’s decision.
How to Check Your R370 Sassa Grant Appeal Status for July 2024
- Step 1: Visit the Sassa Appeals Website: Go online to the official Sassa appeals site.
- Step 2: Enter Your Information: Provide your ID number and cell phone number.
- Step 3: Track Your Appeal: Click "Track Appeal."
The Independent Tribunal is responsible for evaluating SRD grant appeals. The Tribunal will consider the appeal against the R370 grant eligibility criteria.
For the purpose of considering the appeal application the Independent Tribunal will check and revalidate the various databases utilized by SASSA that may indicate income or alternative financial assistance, including the verification databases of insufficient means with banks.
The tribunal will notify you of your appeal status electronically within 60-90 days of submission. While the tribunal's decision is final, you can challenge it in the High Court within 180 days if necessary.
