Who Qualifies for the R370 Sassa Grant?

To qualify for the R370 Sassa Grant, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the Sassa. Eligible individuals must be South African citizens aged between 18 and 59 who are currently unemployed. Additionally, they must not be receiving any other form of government financial assistance, such as NSFAS bursariesUIF benefits, or other Sassa grants.

Sassa employs a rigorous verification process to ensure that only those who meet the criteria are approved for the grant. This process involves verifying applicants' identity documents through the Department of Home Affairs.

It also includes cross-checking financial information with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), UIF, and NSFAS to confirm that applicants do not receive other forms of support.

To further safeguard the process, Sassa implements fraud prevention measures, utilising data from applicants' ID numbers and mobile numbers to detect and prevent fraudulent applications. These steps are crucial to ensuring the grant reaches the intended recipients.
