The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has opened applications for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for June 2025. However, not everyone is required to reapply for continued support.
June 2025 Sassa Grant
According to Sassa, beneficiaries who already submitted valid applications in previous months will automatically be considered for future payments of the R370 SRD grant.
There is no need to submit a new application every month.
Sassa cautions that submitting duplicate applications could cause unnecessary delays in the payment process.
Eligibility Criteria for Sassa SRD Grant Payments
To receive the SRD grant, applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or hold special permits. They must also not be receiving any other government-funded support, such as UIF benefits or NSFAS funding.
Furthermore, to qualify for the R370 monthly grant, applicants must have less than R624 in their bank account.
Sassa uses data from the Department of Home Affairs to verify identity and status, and works with the National Treasury to assess applicants’ income levels. Payments are issued once eligibility is confirmed, typically towards the end of each month.
Who Should Apply for the June 2025 SRD Grant?
People who have not received the SRD grant recently, including those who cancelled their previous applications, can submit a new application for June 2025.
