The Class of 2024 who participated in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) 2024 final matric examination period can now access their matric results. 16 304 learners registered to sit for the 2024 IEB National Senior Certificate exams, made up of 14 990 full-time and 1 314 part-time candidates, at 275 examination centres across the country.
The IEB announced that the IEB Class of 2024 achieved a matric pass rate of 98.47%.
Breakdown of IEB Matric Pass Rates
- Bachelors Passes: 89.37%
- Diploma Passes: 7.56%
- Higher Certificate Passes: 1.53%
- Endorsed Passes: 0.02%
The CEO of the IEB, Confidence Dikgole, said:
Their ability to overcome these obstacles highlights their determination and commitment, making their achievements in the 2024 NSC examinations even more commendable.
The IEB Class of 2024 also broke records as they achieved the highest degree study pass rate in the past five years.
How To Check Your IEB Matric Results
Firstly, the IEB will forward the final Matric results to schools and they will then pass on the results to their candidates.
You can then view it in the following ways:
- Pupils will be able to find their results online using the IEB website when they are released.
- Results can also be accessed via SMS, using the following options:
- If the IEB has been provided with your cellphone number, your results will automatically be sent to the number provided.
- You can register by SMS by sending an SMS to 35135.
- The SMS should read: Results (your examination number) (your DOB yyyymmdd)
- You will then receive a message notifying you that the registration has been
successful and you will receive your results when they are released.
Unhappy with your IEB matric results?
Should candidates be unsatisfied with their matric results, they are able to request a re-mark with applications closing on 31 January 2025. These IEB matric re-mark results will then be released on 1 March 2025.
Candidates can apply for a matric rewrite with the next rewrite opportunity being in May/June 2025. Applications for the May 2025 matric exam rewrite will be open from 1 March until 14 March.
As for your certificate/statement of results that is released by UMALUSI, they will be sent to your school in April after the Matric results release.
Umalusi announced that of the subjects submitted for standardisation, raw marks were accepted in 42 subjects, 8 subjects will have upward adjustments and 8 subjects will have downward adjustments.
The IEB is required to nullify the results of the candidates implicated in any irregularities.
