The University of Cape Town (UCT) celebrated six decades of the Brand van Zyl Law Library, which opened it's doors sixty years ago on 24 September, 1962.
Falling under the institution's Faculty of Law, the dean of that faculty, Professor Danwood Chirwa, along with the executive director for UCT Libraries, Ujala Satgoor, joined librarians and academics as they gathered to pay homage and celebrate this significant milestone.
The celebration comes after UCT's Jagger Library was engulfed by the flames that spread across Table Mountain in April 2021; an exhibition for Jagger Library was hosted earlier this year.
The event also included a roundtable discussion titled “The future of libraries in service of law”, which was held in the Kramer Law Building on UCT's middle campus on Wednesday, the 21st of September 2022.
