At the beginning of the year, the Basic Education Minister had announced that the Limpopo province had achieved the lowest pass rate in the country.
According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE), Limpopo obtained the lowest matric pass rate of the nine provinces, with 66.7%.
It is for this reason that the department’s Deputy Minister, Reginah Mhaule, and provincial Education Minister, Mavhungu NyaMuofhe Lerule-Ramakhanya, paid a visit to the Mashamba Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College to motivate matric learners ahead of the 2022 matric countdown.
This came after traditional leader, Thovhele Khosi NTL Mashamba of Ha-Mashamba had extended the invite to Mhaule, requesting that the Education Minister motivates the matric learners in the local area.
It had been reported that community members were also not happy with the pass rate of the matric class of 2021, and had felt the need to encourage learners as they prepare to write their final examinations.
The matric class of 2022 is left with approximately a month before their examinations kick-off on 31 October 2022.
