Lesufi Sworn In As New Gauteng Premier

Panyaza Lesufi was elected as Gauteng Premier at a special sitting of the provincial legislature on Thursday afternoon. This comes less than 48 hours after former Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s resignation.
The African National Congress’ Lesufi beat out premier hopeful Solly Msimanga of the Democratic Alliance after garnering 38 votes to Msimanga's 22 votes.
The new Gauteng Premier has vowed to improve the provinces' ailing economy while bolstering the against crime, lawlessness and corruption. Lesufi previously served as Gauteng Education MEC.
