On the morning of November 12th at 10:00, Democratic Alliance (DA) members were cited as being ecstatic about their obtaining government control in uMngeni, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) during the official inauguration. This marked the DA's first municipal control in KZN, however, it was not long before chaos ensued.
Suspended Municipal Manager in the area, Thembeka Cibane, allegedly demanded that she sit in during the first council meeting despite the DA already having claimed governance over the area. This ignited a walk-out from DA and a few EFF members, who then ventured to the Howick Magistrates Office after the situation.
