Bushbuckridge Teacher Warmly Welcomed After Receiving Award

A Bushbuckridge teacher was welcomed by the school community after receiving recognition for the work they've been doing in the school.
According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, Mandla Delton Dhlamini from Mapaleni Primary School in Bushbuckridge, has received an award in the Excellence in Technology-Enhanced Teaching category at the National Teaching Awards finals.
In a speech, Dhlamini shared that he has to make sure that the learners are equipped with skills and knowledge, so that they are empowered to be part of this digital era.
Mhlanga has also mentioned that this comes five years later after the school had received ICT equipment sponsored by Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Ltd. It is said that Dhlamini has since used ICT to enhance the learning experience of his learners.
The Education Department hosts these annual awards in recognition and celebration of teachers who, often under challenging circumstances, remain committed to their roles in molding the citizens of the future.
In this year’s award ceremony, teachers received recognition in a variety of categories, including but not limited to Excellence in Grade R teaching, Excellence in Primary School Teaching, Excellence in Secondary School Teaching, Excellence in Secondary School Leadership as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award.
