Senior Inspector: Law Enforcement

Compilation of operational plans for inspectorate in line with strategic objectives of the Authority ● Managing expenditure of the inspectorate unit in conjunction with regional manager ● Liaise with prosecutor in respect of any dockets returned to inspectors for further investigations/corrections and monitor progress ● Monitoring quantity and quality of dockets submitted by each inspector on a regular basis and addressing poor performance ● The role requires knowledge in investigation and inspection of complaints and illegal practices with regard to improper conduct of security service providers ● Conduct routine inspections at security service providers to ensure compliance in terms of the Act and Regulations ● Obtaining evidence and the compilation of dockets which includes statements and charge sheets in respect of security service providers not complying with the statutory Code of Conduct ● Investigation of unregistered security service providers contravening the Code of Conduct Regulations ● Testify in improper conduct enquiries against security service providers contravening the Code of Conduct Regulations ● Address telephonic and written enquiries in respect of the Act and Regulations as well as enquiries following on from inspections and investigations ● Liaise with SAPS and State Prosecutor in respect of criminal matters reported against security service providers ● Serving of Improper Conduct charge sheets and summons ● Serving Improper Conduct Confirmations and collection of fines imposed ● Liaise with the Authority’s Account Administrators and the collection of annual fees outstanding ● Act as Peace Officer ● Act as Commissioner of Oath ● Supervision of inspectors under his/her control ensure all inspectors are productively utilized to ensure proper regulation in his/her area of responsibility ● Effective control over regulatory performance in area or responsibility including proper planning of regulatory focus to ensure minimum Authority financial and other resources are used to achieve objectives ● Identifying training needs of inspectors under his/her control and address shortcomings ● Identifying and arranging of industry and stakeholders workshops ● Review inspections and investigations undertaken by inspectors under his/her control and update Law Enforcement Divisions database accordingly ● Review and check financial claims of inspectors under his/her control and make recommendations in respect thereof ● Performance management reviews.

Job Requirements

National Diploma/Degree in Criminal Justice, Policing, or equivalent coupled with 5 years’ experience in law enforcement and criminal investigation environment with at least 2 years at a supervisory level ● Training in Detective Learning Program (DLP) will be an added advantage ● Valid driver’s licence ● Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process.
