With Matric finals loading and learners heading to exam venues in a matter of days, the bulk of reviewing should now be over, and the limited time available before and during the exams should be strategically managed, an education expert says.

As the Matric class of 2018 settle into the rhythm of their final exams, an education expert has warned them not to become complacent thinking the ‘worst’ is behind them, but instead to knuckle down and give it their best sustained effort right until the end.

A growing awareness of post-matric anxiety has prompted government and mental institutions to provide support services to matriculants and their parents.

Matrics from the Class of 2018 should now be deep into preparing for their upcoming mock exams – which are only a few weeks away – and ultimately the final exams of their school careers in two months’ time.

The 2018 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations kick off  with the first practical examinations in Computer Examinations Technology (CAT). A total of 37 340 candidates are expected to sit for the exam today.

Matric is a big commitment. Over the course of the year, you will pour your heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears and every other cliche for effort into your work. And quite rightly so; a Matric certificate is an essential part of today's education and employment landscape.
