Where Can You Complete Your SAICA Training?

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is a professional accounting body that was established in 1984. SAICA is widely recognised and one of the leading accounting institutes. The main aim is to provide support, guidance and services to all chartered accountant’s throughout their professional lives. SAICA is responsible for monitoring the programmes that lead to the qualification of Chartered Accountants in South Africa.

SAICA is constituted by four local regional offices and two international offices. The regions are:

  • Northern region
  • Eastern Region
  • Southern Region
  • Central Region
  • SAICA Australia
  • SAICA United Kingdom 

 

Chartered accountants can fulfil various positions across a broad spectrum of accountancy. For example; CEO’s, CFO’s, managing directors, board directors, business owners, auditors and many more. Most of these members operate in a commercial industry and play a significant role in sustaining the business sector and economic development. 

SAICA aims to oversee the development of entry level chartered accountants. They ensure that they are fully equipped in their position and contribute to the overall success and development of the economy. 

What skills are required for a SAICA trainee accountant?

  • The candidate must be in possession of or currently studying towards a SAICA recognised degree
  • Students must be academically strong in mathematics and accounting 
  • Passionate about becoming a Chartered Accountant
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical mindset
  • Deadline driven and have the ability to handle pressure
  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy and thoroughness

 

In order to become a qualified accountant, a candidate must complete a university degree, complete an internship and successfully complete two on-boarding profession exams that are regulated by SAICA.
