Feenix has launched the Cap The Gap Covid-19 Response Fund to raise money to provide food vouchers to students and so that vulnerable students can be equipped with data and devices to make online learning possible and more accessible.

Feenix believes that "One of the most affected groups of the Covid-19 shutdown is the student population. Thousands of students nationwide are unable to continue with the academic year due to the digital divide." and they aim to help solve this issue and lessen the burden on students shoulders as we live in this strange time.

They aim to raise R6.6 million that will equip as many students as possible with laptops, data and food vouchers and by raising this money, they will be able to help 1500 students, those from the missing middle and postgraduates, so that they can finish their studies without being stopped by the effects of this pandemic.

On how this fund is going to work, Feenix CEO, Leana de Beer states that:

  • Students are selected by working closely with Universities. Students eligible for this campaign include “missing middle” final year students and all postgraduates students.
  • Household income checks are conducted on all students selected for the campaign.
  • The distribution of laptops and data will happen through a partnership with Van Schaik Bookstore.
  • Feenix will purchase food vouchers from Shoprite for students to redeem. Each student will receive a R250 voucher for the next 5 months.

At Feenix, a relationship is built between the student and the community. Through donations as well as a passion for education, Feenix has helped over a thousand people pursue their dreams in higher education.
