November marks another end to a spectacular edition of Idols, as a Policer officer goes from serving and protecting the country to signing autographs.

Congratulations are in order, as the finale of idol's season 18 came to a beautiful end, with Thapelo Molomo walking away with the crown of being Idol's season 18 winner and Nozi Sibiya as the season's runner-up.

With 22 million viewer votes after his last performance, which summed up to a total of 120 million votes within the overall season, it was an emotional night for the 29-year-old as he went on his knees to pray after his name wascalled out in front of a full house at Tshwane's Heartfelt Arena.

In addition to the idol's season 18 crown, Thapelo walks away with an impressive prize haul: R1 million cash, made up of 350,000 in a Standard bank MyMo account, R300,000 from Spotify, and R350,000 from Mzanzi Magic.

In addition to this, he will receive access to a Standard bank wealth manager; a Toyota Starlet; a fashion voucher from Truworths and his live show outfits, all to the value of R100,000; R85,000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha; and a recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee Records.

As runner-up, Nozi Sibiya wins a recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee, as well as: R50,000 in a Standard Bank MyMo account; a fashion voucher from Truworths, and her live show outfits, all to the value of R50,000; and R30,000 from Spotify. 

“This has been another spectacular edition of Idols South Africa — 18 seasons is quite a feat, and we’re proud of how well this rendition was received. We would like to congratulate Thapelo, and wish him well on his post-Idols SA journey,” says Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.  

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele who attended the finale congratulated Thapelo, saying that he served as an inspiration to police officers across the country to believe in their talents as they serve and protect the country. 

The member serves as a beacon of hope for many police officers who are on a daily basis faced with psychosocial challenges. He has illustrated to thousands of officers that hard work, determination and perseverance is the foundation of any successful human being.

Cele added that the force cannot wait to have Molomo back to continue serving our men and women in blue.

Shortly after his win, Thapelo thanked Mzansi for supporting his season 18 journey.
