UP Will Contact Students Who Can Return

University of Pretoria is making plans for the phased return of students, as announced by the Higher Education Minister will be allowed under level 3 of the national lockdown. They have given some limited information to students on how this will happen.

University of Pretoria is making plans for allowing some students to return to campus as level 3 of the national lockdown will be in effect from the 1st of June.  As announced by the Minister of Higher Education within 2 or 3 weeks of the country moving to level 3 of the lockdown up to 33% of students can return to campus.

This initial 33% of students is slated to included medical students, final year students & postgrad students who require access to laboratories and technical equipment, and students in any year of study who need to do clinical training.  

Nzimande said that under level 3 universities should also consider the return to campuses and residences of students who are finding extreme difficulties in their home learning environments. 

The University of Pretoria has told students that if they qualify to return to campus under level 3 they will be contacted by the faculties by June the 14th. They have asked students not to contact their faculties for now. They have said that further details will be provided for those who have not been contacted by that date.
