Education is one of the most popular qualifications future students sign up for. Now that Unisa's applications are open, students are finding that they being rejected a space in the programme. However, there is no need to worry as Unisa has other options for those who want to pursue Education.

Unisa has now released a statement to discuss this which read:

All three Bachelor of Education (BEd) qualifications are a popular choice. As a result, the BEd is oversubscribed, which means that more applications are received than the spaces available for admission. As a result, not all applicants will be offered a space for admission.

Then, the University says something which could alleviate a huge weight off your shoulders as they said, "The BEd is, however, not the only route to become a teacher."

If you intend on teaching in the Senior and FET Phase, you have alternative routes you can take in terms of your higher education. The option you can take is to apply for an alternative Bachelor’s program and then if you meet the requirements and are admitted to the programme, you can then continue into the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

In this way, you will be able to become a teacher in the same minimum four years as the BEd students.

Unisa gives the following advice to prospective students which is very important:

check the admission requirements for your intended PGCE to ensure that you register the correct combination of school subjects to meet the PGCE admission
