All postgraduate applications are done online on the Unisa website.

The University of South Africa (Unisa) said that no self-help stations will be available for applications at their regional offices.

To start with your application process, click here.

Unisa allows a maximum of two qualifications per applicant, which are ranked in order of preference.

Below is the step one should follow when applying for admission at Unisa:

  1. Confirm whether you have ever successfully completed a postgraduate qualification through Unisa / distance learning.

Here, you may choose from three responses, i.e. no, yes but things have changed or yes.

  1. Choose qualification.
  2. Apply for admission.
  3. Application outcome.

Should you be a first-time applicant to Unisa, the university requires that you complete the First-Year Experience MOOC (FYE massive open online course).

You will not be able to accept Unisa's offer if you have not yet completed Unisa's free online MOOC.

Should a qualification not reflect on the drop-down list of applications that means the particular qualification is not available for application.

When explaining their selection process, the Unisa statement read:

Unisa will assess your application according to the academic admission requirements for your qualification(s) of choice and the final mark obtained for your major subjects at the third-year undergraduate level. If you do not meet these requirements, your application will be rejected. The prospective student will be provided with the reason why their application was rejected and/or a way forward.

Should you be accepted for one of the postgraduate qualifications that you have applied for, you ought to accept or decline Unisa's offer within the prescribed period of time.

Unisa has clearly stated that students are permitted to accept only one offer, the second one automatically falls away when you choose the qualification that you prefer over the other.
