How Students Can Get Involved On Campus

Although many of us know that campus is the place to learn and do academically well, it is also an opportunity for us as students to be involved at campus and create a holistic experience.

Getting involved in student activities or on site job opportunities is important for your success as it teaches you effective time management skills, connecting and engaging with other people and broadens your perspective on life as a whole.

Here are a few ways in which students can become involved at campus:

#Attend campus events

College events are particularly aimed and organized with students in mind. The best part of it is that it's free and these events can be found on social media. Be sure to follow your college on social media or look for information on their website.

#Form a student committee group

The main purpose of a committee group is to represent the voice of the students to convey any issues, concerns or ideas to the campus faculty and administration. This allows students to voice their opinions and ideas freely and not feel ashamed as it is done anonymously.

#Participate in voluntary events

Volunteering or working in the community builds connections. You will find that many campuses are involved in charitable events to raise awareness and funds for a particular cause. Through volunteering you are able to challenge yourself to try something different, achieve personal goals, practice using your skills or discover your hidden talents.

#Become a tutor

Are you a student that excels in a particular subject? Consider offering your services by becoming a tutor. Many institutions hire students to tutor or you can work for a volunteer tutoring organisation where you are able to assist students that need your help/service. This can be a good way of networking with people outside of your degree while gaining the satisfaction of helping other students.

#Join extracurricular activities

College is a great time to try new things. Join a sport or book club, intramural sports team or an activity you always wanted to try. By trying out different activities, this can help you discover new passions and rule out activities you don’t like.

There are many ways in which you can become involved at college/university. It would be a good idea to weigh all your options first before making your decision and spending all your time and efforts on a specific activity.
