Youth unemployment is a massive issue, and a crises, in Africa which is steadily rising. You can help combat youth unemployment with just your device and completing a quick questionnaire.

A crises we are currently is seeing is that of youth unemployment. In Africa, this issue is becoming bigger instead of being solved. This then sees the next generation of leaders staggered in their development as dignified and active professionals. 

The University of Cape Town's ARUA Centre for Skills Development and Unemployment has stated that the urgency of the demand for innovative youth employment solutions is the underlying motivation for the baseline assessment. You, yes you, the one reading this, can help combat youth development and work towards this crisis seen in African youth simply by completing a Baseline Assessment Questionnaire as part of the Partnership Research and Capacity-Building For Youth Unemployment Solution in Africa (PRAC-4-YUSA).

Completing this baseline assessment will help identify specific efforts previously used to tackle youth unemployment in four selected countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa and will:

  • Identify action-based capacity building and researched-informed interventions that will foster youth entrepreneurship; skills development; and job-creation mindsets within unemployed youths across the continent of Africa. 
  • Provide a unique platform for the evaluation of public youth employment intervention outcomes across the selected countries of the Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Give the various Faculty Members, Postdoctoral, Doctoral students’ and other researchers involve in PRAC-4-YUSA Grant the opportunity to be better focused on existing gaps for further research; 
  • Identify key efforts in the various countries previously employed to tackle the challenges of youth unemployment; 
  • Provide platforms to evaluate the outcomes of previous programs, understand their shortcomings and build on their successes or seek novel strategies based on research; and
  • Understand more broadly, youth employment challenges in Africa
