College of Cape Town took to social media to make students aware of false information spreading concerning laptops.

The institution released a statement saying that scammers were sending false messages to students by using fake email addresses, such as a fake CCT Gmail account, asking students to respond to the messages or contact them regarding the collection of their laptops.

The College has explicitly said, "The emails and messages are not from the College, please do not respond to or click on them. This is a scam".

College of Cape Town then made it clear that they have not yet received the student laptops and that students will be informed when the laptops are ready for collections or delivery through communication platforms.

College of Cape Town has therefore warned students to, "Be alert, be wise, don't be a victim of scams."
