College of Cape Town Addresses Lockdown


College of Cape Town has addressed the lockdown and what it means for the Higher Education institution. They are making the call that all non-essential businesses and institutions to suspend all activities.

Within the notice, the following was stated:

All campuses and central office based academic and administration duties are suspended.

Functional managers and their essential team members are to continue essential college business tasks from home and remain in contact with the college. 

The following financial arrangements have been made for staff and students:

  1. Staff salaries will be paid on 25 March 2020
  2. Staff salaries instructions for April 2020 has been prepared for bank action
  3. All student stipends will be paid on 25 March 2020
  4. All student transport and living allowances will be paid on 26 March 2020 
  5. Attendance registers have been waived during this critical period

Students should stay at home and not report for teaching, learning and training at TVET campuses until 17 April 2020. Students are required to return to their campuses for commencement of the academic program on 20 April 2020.

Staff should stay at home and not report for work from midnight, 26 March 2020 to midnight, 16 April 2020. All staff are required to report for work on 17 April 2020. Only staff providing essential services, such as security, will be allowed on college premises.
