Study Now At The Academy Of Learning
The Academy of Learning was established in 1985 an a South African owned and registered company that specialises in computer and business training skills. All Academy of Learning institutions must abide with Government Further Education and Training regulations. The main aim is to fulfil the needs of learners and the business community by identifying the gap between higher education and the reality of the corporate environment. Through identifying this need, they provide a customised program for each learner by ensuring they meet the requirements for effective training at an affordable cost.
What are the learning methods at Academy Of Learning?
To ensure that the institution meets the specialised needs of learners, some programs are based on the integrated learning system which is a step-by-step competency based method of learning through flexible scheduling. All learning is result-orientated which means that learners can define what they have learnt and execute their new-found skills into the working environment. Other programs include self-study, assisted learning at colleges or lectured based which may not be as effective as the integrated learning system method.
The academy has shifted their focus from teaching to learning. All programs are designed in a way that allows students to learn by doing and not just by listening. All lessons are presented in two-hour modules which are built level by level which ensures that students are competent and mastered the course material. Should a learner find a specific module difficult, they are able to pause and repeat a lesson or alternatively call the facilitator who will then provide assistance until the issue has been resolved.
Each learner will receive a customised workbook that contains practical exercises and the function process. Each objective will be clearly defined at the start of each workbook and some CD’s will contain the necessary guidelines and instructions on how to complete the task.If a learner is not able to grasp a specific task, the facilitator can also provide instructions on the program. Learners will slowly progress through the program one step at a time until they have completed each exercise. The workbook is a continuous source of information that can be used after the program has been completed.
