Grade 6 Learners Can Apply For the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) Scholarships

Applications are open for Grade 6 girl and boy learners who achieve marks of 70% and above in Maths, Science and English and come from low-income homes - to be awarded a five-year SSP scholarship to attend one of our 25 partner schools in South Africa.

Grade 6 Learners Can Apply For the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) Scholarships

Since 2000, non-profit trust, Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP), has given 1500 bursaries to deserving scholars to attend top independent and public high schools in the country.

The scholarships given to date are valued at R150m, to attend schools in Johannesburg, Pretoria, the KZN Midlands, Hillcrest, Grahamstown, East London and Somerset West.

The applicants must be in Grade 6, no older than 12, keen on sport and helping the community, and have leadership potential. The combined household income must not exceed R20 000 per month, to qualify to apply for the scholarship programme.

The 10-month recruitment process includes an entrance exam, interviews with the parents and guardians and includes tests to assess intellectual quotient (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ) to conclude with a camp to see how they get on with other youngsters in a team.
