PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To assist with the conceptualisation, planning and implementation of communication, marketing, branding and transformation initiatives.

BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

  • Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.).
  • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox.
  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.

PEOPLE 

  • An ability to deal with different stakeholders at all levels.
  • Contribute to an enabling climate/culture through collaboration.
  • Manage own performance against set targets and competencies.

CUSTOMERS

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer and supplier satisfaction.
  • Align Company Development needs with Sustainable transformation agenda.

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

Legislation:

  • Monitor and keep up to date with legislative changes that impact on transformation and community development and compliance with the MRPDA and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Provide information, advice and training regarding legislation that may have impact on transformation issues and processes.
  • Conduct research and evaluate challenges that may have an impact on our license to operate thus putting our Mining Rights at risk.
  • Work with the team towards implementation and monitoring of BBBEE requirements

Transformation:

  • Assist in identifying and addressing issues that may create barriers to Transformation and community development.
  • Be part of building internal capacity and transfer skills within the organisation and amongst stakeholders.
  • Collaborate in the implementation of the LED Projects.
  • Collaborate in the implementation of Enterprise and Supplier Development initiatives.

LED Projects:

  • Assist with the implementation of LED projects.
  • Liaise with the relevant stakeholders involved in corporate affairs and transformation.
  • Promote the company’s interests and image with stakeholders.

Climate and Culture:

  • Track Group wide Climate and Culture trends.
  • Monitor social media to establish stakeholder views about the Company.

Reporting:

  • Assist with the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual transformation reports.
  • Assist with consolidation of annual SLP reports.
  • Compiling and drafting of quarterly BU newsletters.

Event Planning and Management:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of all departmental events.

Community:

  • Assist with the management of Community relations and Projects.

Other:

  • Conceptualize, maintain, and create updated content for all communication platforms, including Newsletters, Publications, Website, and social media.
  • Monitoring media coverage on mining transformation and make appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Assist to communicate the Company’s vision by developing and implementing short- and long-term communication and marketing strategies for specific projects and initiatives.
  • Evaluate media and social media coverage and prepare reports for operational purposes.
  • Promote and attend Company / community events during and after business hours.
  • Liaising with relevant service providers.
  • Proof reading and editing of public documents and publications.
  • Logistics, event management – planning, facilitating events and functions.

  • Research Community Cultural Diversity and traditions and assess the impact on the Organisation

Minimum qualifications

  • Relevant Degree in Social Sciences / or Communications
