That's great news for unemployed South Africans with bursaries available now from the Local Government Seta. If you are South African, or a permanent resident, you can apply for these bursaries for university or TVET College.

Government bursaries are available now for unemployed South Africans so they can study at universities, universities of technology and TVET colleges.

The bursaries are provided by the Local Government Seta and applications are open until the end of November 2024.

Who can apply?
1. South African students and those with permanent residence status.
2. University, University of Technology, and TVET Colleges (NATED programmes) students or Grade 12 learners who have been accepted in institutions of higher learning.
3. Students who are accepted or received provisional acceptance for a course/qualification that is in line with local government sector.
4. Priority will be given to studies that relate to the local government sector priority occupations priorities aligned to the broad service delivery areas and support functions aligned to the five broad focus areas of LGSETA.
5. Please refer to the list of qualifications that will be supported for the bursary on the LGSETA website.
6. Only students that are studying full time will be funded.
