Launch of the NSTF Young Science Graduates Programme

The National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF), in partnership with the South African Graduates Development Association (SAGDA), is launching a programme to address the problems of young Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) graduates, who struggle to find jobs after graduating, on an ongoing basis.

In the implementation of this programme the NSTF will be utilising five years of extensive experience, gained while running a project on behalf of the Department of Science and Technology under the National Youth Service programme. The launch of the NSTF Young Science Graduates Programme is scheduled for the day after the proSET Presidents Forum, at the same venue.

This first attempt to bring graduates together will focus on motivating these youngsters not to give up on their dreams and then helping them to relaunch their dreams of a career in the sciences. The programme will focus on issues such as how to compile a good CV, where to look for job opportunities, how to prepare for job interviews, how to conduct and market oneself in an interview, opportunities for post-graduate studies and internships etc.

The NSTF calls on all science professionals to join and become involved in this initiative as role models and mentors, and to network with the youth and help the NSTF to help them become the future innovators of South Africa.

The launch of the Graduate Programme will take place as follows:

  • Date: Friday, 17 August 2012;
  • Time: 09:00 for 09:30-16:00;
  • Venue: Turbine Hall, Newtown, Johannesburg;
  • RSVP: By no later than Tuesday, 14 August 2012 and the NSTF will send you the programme as confirmation that you have been registered to participate.
