About the Role:

As a Firefighter at Fidelity, you will be responsible for responding to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, hazardous material spills, and medical emergencies. The role includes conducting fire prevention activities, training, equipment maintenance, and supporting health and safety practices at client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to fires, rescue operations, and emergency medical incidents

• Handle hazardous material (hazmat) situations and extricate casualties

• Operate and maintain firefighting and rescue equipment

• Conduct fire safety inspections and risk assessments

• Deliver fire prevention training to internal teams and clients

• Participate in emergency drills and physical fitness training

• Drive and operate heavy-duty fire apparatus and specialised emergency vehicles

• Complete incident reports, logs, and administrative documentation

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards

Minimum Requirements:

To apply for this Firefighter vacancy, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Firefighter II Certification (NFPA 1001) – IFSAC accredited

• 2 to 3 years relevant experience in firefighting or emergency services

• Valid C1 driver's license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit)

• Medically and physically fit for operational duties

• EMT certification and First Aid (Level 1–3)

• Clear criminal record

• Experience in hazmat response and fire prevention procedures

• Strong understanding of fire chemistry, extinguishing systems, and emergency response protocols

Desired Competencies:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong administrative and incident reporting abilities

• Ability to perform under pressure and in high-risk environments

• Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines, OHS regulations, and fire safety systems

• Familiarity with security industry protocols and chain of command
