Daimler Truck Southern Africa’s 12-month Youth Employment Services (YES) Programme offers unemployed South African youth hands-on workplace experience with one of the world’s leading commercial-vehicle manufacturers.
Launched in partnership with the Government’s YES initiative, this programme equips you with practical skills, industry exposure, and valuable mentorship to kick-start your career in automotive, logistics, finance, IT, or related fields.
Programme Details
Duration & Locations: 12 months in Centurion or East London
Stipend & Benefits: YES-funded placement with on-the-job training and access to Daimler Truck’s value-added services and expert networks
Who Can Apply?
- South African residents aged 18–29
- Unemployed with a Grade 12 certificate (tertiary qualification advantageous)
- Clear criminal record, English proficiency, and computer literacy
- No prior participation in any YES4Youth programme or full-time work experience required
Preferred Fields of Study
- Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, or Mechatronics
- Human Resource Management
- Procurement, Supply Chain & Logistics
- Finance: Financial Management, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Tax
- Information Technology
- Marketing: Communication, Public Relations, Digital Media
- Legal: Newly admitted attorneys
Key Responsibilities
As a YES programme trainee, you’ll rotate across relevant departments—supporting project teams, assisting with daily operations, and contributing to continuous-improvement initiatives. You’ll gain insight into production processes at the East London assembly plant, financial planning within Daimler Truck Financial Services, or digital-media campaigns under Sandown Motor Holdings.
