The CSIR has an Internship opportunity for an Intern: Air and Dust Laboratory, Bio-manufacturing Technologies, Life Cycle Assessment and In-service Training: Audio Visual.

CSIR Internships and In-Service

In-service Training: Audio Visual (AV) Technician

Qualifications, skill and experience:

  • Currently enrolled for a National Diploma in sound/electronic engineering, event production, information technology or related  fields;
  • Customer and Service orientation;
  • Communication skills;
  • Learning potential.

Internship: Air and Dust Laboratory

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A National diploma in analytical chemistry or Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
  • One year relevant work experience in a laboratory environment will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to capture and report analytical data to superiors.
  • Ability to interact with peers and superiors.
  • Must be computer literate and have competency in MS Office.
  • Must have good writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail and have the ability to work accurately and well under pressure.

Internship: Bio-manufacturing Technologies

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, microbiology or chemical engineering. An Honours degree would be advantageous;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Package;     
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts (morning, afternoon or night);
  • Must have a ‘hands on’ approach with respect to equipment operation, and working in the laboratory and pilot facility;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);

Internship: Life Cycle Assessment

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Master’s degree in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering with training in Life Cycle Assessment;
  • Specific application of life cycle assessment to plastics or knowledge of the environmental impacts of plastics and specifically plastic carrier bags is desirable;
  • Additional knowledge with respect to Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment will be advantageous.
