Bursaries

The Southern African Clothing and Textiles Workers' Union (SACTWU) manages South Africa's biggest trade union bursary fund. The scheme offers members and their dependents financial support to study at universities, universities of technology and certain other higher education institutions. The next application deadline is 28 February 2013 for full year and 1st semester study.

Do you dream of becoming a chef? Woolworths TASTE magazine would love to make that dream come true by awarding one young South African a culinary bursary.

Allan Gray Orbis Foundation offers the exceptional Allan Gray Fellowship to Southern Africas pioneering bright young students. It aims to develop students, known as Allan Gray Candidate Fellows, into Southern Africas future high impact entrepreneurial leaders. Every year, the Foundation selects the best and most ambitious Grade 12 and first year university students from Southern Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland to join its vibrant community of Allan Gray Candidate Fellows.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is offering bursaries to students who wish to study towards an Engineering qualification at a tertiary institution. Apply before 12:00 noon on 8 February 2013.

Doctoral and Masters Research Bursaries in African Climate Change have been established at the University of Cape Town, with funding from a number of national and international sources. Up to eight bursaries are available. Applications close 15 February 2013.

CPUT is playing a key role in developing a new generation of scholars and to make sure it meets this goal, CPUT has set up a number of support structures for postgraduate students, including access to a wide range of bursaries.

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) invites athletes at National and Provincial level to apply for financial assistance for undergraduate studies. Applications close 15 February 2013.

The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Pretoria invites applications for bursaries for full-time PhD study within the Pilot Masters and Doctoral Programme in Mathematical Sciences commencing in 2013 or 2014. Applications close 30 April 2013.

FoodBev SETA invites full-time students to apply for undergraduate, as well as postgraduate bursaries for studies conducted during 2013. Applications close 15 March 2013.

Fine Music Radio 101.3 presents an annual award offered to students of Classical Music or Jazz, in their 2nd, 3rd or Postgraduate year. One award is available per musical category. Applications close 22 February 2013.
