Nnoni Mokgethi, Traxtion Brand, Communications and Marketing Manager, said these bursaries aim to increase female representation in the rail sector in South Africa. She said:
Traxtion believes strongly that we need to actively promote the rail sector as an attractive working environment for women to diversify the sector. Traxtion has a strong history of supporting training initiatives, and this is another step in our support of employment opportunities within the rail sector.
One of the greatest motivators for getting more women into the workplace is wealth creation. “Throughout the world, it has been proven that when women are economically active, economies grow. By energetically promoting women in the rail sector, we can be a catalyst for change.
Traxtion is at the forefront of a campaign aimed at diversifying the rail workforce – the Future of Rail is Women campaign – and we are investing substantial resources to back this cause,” Mokgethi said.
