The Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme is a multi-year programme which promotes teaching as a profession. All first-time applicants need to be 30 years old or younger to apply for the bursary.
Applications for the Funza Lushaka Bursary is currently open for 2021 funding so be sure to apply now. The closing date for the applications is 28 February 2021.
These bursaries help students complete a teaching qualification in identified areas of priority. Recipients of these bursaries are required to teach at a public school for the same number of years that they received funding from the programme.
The following students are eligible for the bursary:
- Grade 12 learners
- Graduates who want to complete a teaching qualification (enrol for a PGCE).
- People who want to make a career change and become teachers.
- Unemployed people who want to become teachers.
Prospective applicants need to first gain admission to a higher education institution. The financial aid office at your institution will have information on how to apply for the bursary.
Here is how you can apply for the bursary:
- Open the e-Gov portal at www.eservices.gov.za
- Register by providing personal information.
- Log in to the system using username and password created when registering.
- On the e-Services Menu select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme.
- Enter the OTP received on the preferred channel.
- Accept the Terms and Conditions.
- On the dashboard, menu clicks on the 2021 application button.
- Follow the steps to complete the required field with your information.
- Accept the declaration to confirm the information captured.
