The number of students funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is set to decrease due to budget cuts. However, the fund has revealed its plans on how to mitigate the impact of a smaller purse. 


The 2024 academic year in the Post School Education Sector (PSET) is less than two months away. Stakeholders in the sector recently addressed several concerns ahead of the upcoming academic year. 


While NSFAS is recognised as a critical government intervention which removes the financial barriers which prevent students from obtaining qualifications, several challenges have plagued the scheme. However, the minister is adamant that NSFAS is improving.
