Waiters Wanted at the Golden Gate Highlands Natioanal Park

SANParks is looking for suitably qualified people to fill 6 vacant waitering positions at the Golden Gate Hotel & Chalets in Golden Gate Highlands National Park, reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager.

Park Peterson Grading: BL

6 Positions available

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include the following:

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the restaurant, including all necessary mise-and-place prior to opening;
• Clean designated areas, according to laid down procedures and hygiene requirements;
• Set tables to laid down standards, ensure flowers and table decorations and all items in good state;
• Take orders from customers, anticipate client’s needs, receive money from clients for food & beverages and ensure prompt service;
• Prepare and clear areas for drinks service; provide a table and drinks service;
• Provide A la Carte and buffet service when required;
• Be totally familiar with the composition of all menu items;
• Serve food and beverages in according to laid down standards in a professional, courteous manner;
• Promote an outstanding image to guests;
• Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and a professional appearance;
• Help with regular stock-takes and stock control to minimise shrinkage; and
• Maintain a high level of hospitality standards.

Requirements, Qualification and Experience:

• Minimum Grade 12;
• Minimum of two years waiter experience in restaurant / lodge / hospitality industry;
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills with strong customer care relations;
• Proficient in English and fluency in any other language that is spoken in the region is a distinct advantage;
• Practical experience in similar working environment will serve as an advantage;
• Hard working person, punctual, neat and diligent;
• The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson; and
• B1 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks.
