Sasol is offering various Learnerships in Secunda, Sasolburg and Durban for those of you that want to train to become a qualified artisan according to the requirements of Chemical Industries Education and Training Authorities (CHIETA).

Position Summary

Purpose of the job:

To train and develop a learner to become a qualified artisan according to the requirements of Chemical Industries Education and Training Authorities (CHIETA).

To apply:

Successful applications require 15 to 18 SMS' to complete.

Note that correspondence will be done through a cellphone sms system. You will then be asked questions which you will need to answer. Each SMS cost R1.50. All applications must be done via the sms system, any other applications will not be considered.

Secunda:

• Electrical Artisan (February 2013);
• Instrument Artisan (February 2013);
• Mechanical Artisan (February 2013);

• Process Artisan (January 2013).

Sasolburg:

• Instrument Artisan (February 2013);
• Mechanical Artisan (February 2013);
• Electrical Artisan (February 2013);
• Boilermaker (February 2013);
• Welder (February 2013); and
• Process Artisan (January 2013).

Durban (Note: Partial training to be done in Sasolburg)

• Process Artisan (February 2013);
• Instrument Artisan (February 2013;
• Mechanical Artisan (February 2013);and
• Electrical Artisan (February 2013).

Job Requirements

Required outputs: Functional

The successful candidates will be trained in the core skills and applicable safety standards related to the specific trade in maintenance and operation of Sasol plants.

Job Requirements:

• Regular attendance of classes;
• 4-6 months training at the Skills Academy;
• 6-8 months training at the designated plant; and
• Wearing full PPE as provided by the Skills Academy.

Qualifications and expertise required (Must)

Grade 12 with:

• Maths HG/SG (Does NOT include Maths Literacy, Additional Maths, Functional Maths, Commercial Maths, Applied Maths);
• Physical Science HG/SG (Does NOT include Life Sciences, Science Literacy, Functional Science, Natural Science and General Science); and
• English passed.

N3 Certificate with:

• Maths;
• Engineering Science;
• Business English; and
• Any 2 subjects passed (total 5 subjects).

Specific experience required:

Previous relevant experience will add as an advantage.
