20 positions on The Presidency's 2013/14 Internship Programme

The Presidency is offering a wide range of Internship opportunities in Pretoria from 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014 (12 months) to provide South African graduates and undergraduates with the opportunity to gain workplace experience in the field of work that they have studied. Interns will receive a stipend of R3 500 per month and need to apply before 16:30 on Friday the 7th of December 2012.
Below are the Business Units, the required Fields of Study, the Division within the Presidency in which specific Internships are available; their respective Duties and the Reference Numbers of the available Internship positions:
1. Business Units: The Ministry for Performance Monitoring & Evaluation
Field of Study: National Diploma/degree in Public Administration / Management (knowledge of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage)
Division: (x1) Minister’s Private Office

Duties: Assist with updating the expenditure tracking documents for the Ministry
- Make travel arrangements for all Ministry staff
- Prepare for meetings and arrange all related logistics
- Assist with taking minutes as and when required
- Type, photocopy, fax and scan documents.
2. Business Unit: The Ministry for Performance Monitoring & Evaluation
Field of Study: National Diploma/degree in Youth Development:
Division: Youth Desk (x1)

Duties: Provide general administrative support to the Unit, inter alia making travel arrangements, typing, photocopying, faxing, filing of documents, ordering stationery, organising meetings, taking minutes, liaising with stakeholders and drafting letters.
3. Business Unit: Private Office of The President
Field of Study: National Diploma/degree in Communications/Public Relations/ Journalism/Media/Research or relevant qualification. University of Technology students can apply if they require internships during their third year.

Field of Study: National Diploma/degree in Communications/Public Relations/ Journalism/Media/Research or relevant qualification. University of Technology students can apply if they require internships during their third year.

- Write contributions towards speeches and other important documents
- Draft messages, statements, articles and content that may be required
- Participate in various other communication-related activities in the Presidency.

- Contributing to strategic plans for and supporting strategic objectives of the Chief Directorate

- Food discipline and hygienic standards
- Able to work under pressure and long hours
- Able to work in a team. Candidates would be exposed to catering planning for events and functions, will prepare buffets for state visits and cook for the Principal, family and staff.
Applicants must be graduates in any of the fields listed above, or undergraduate student where an internship IS a prerequisite to obtain their formal qualification.<

Failure to submit the required documents will result in the application not being considered. Employment security screening will be conducted on candidates relating to RSA citizenship, criminal record, credit record and verification of qualification. The outcome of this screening will determine suitability for employment.
Who should apply?
Unemployed youth: African graduates/postgraduates with a tertiary qualification in one of the above-mentioned fields of study who have not previously been employed in any internship programme.
