Imara Asset Management SA (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Imara Holdings Limited (which is listed in Botswana), currently has a team of 4 financial planners and is looking to grow this area of the business by offering two interns the opportunity to work closely with this team: initially under its supervision while the successful candidates learn the ropes and gain knowledge about the practical aspects of being a financial planner.
Imara Asset Management recognises that it is difficult for new entrants into the financial services arena – largely because of increased regulation and the move from upfront commissions to as-and-when commissions.
The group has three core focus areas – Asset Management, Stockbroking and Corporate Finance, and also has a Trust Services business based in Mauritius. The group has offices and associate representation throughout 29 countries, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Imara Asset Management has just over US $400 million is assets under management, and has a range of South African, African and Global investment offerings. The South African asset management business has a financial planning arm, providing independent financial advice to its clients and investors. Products and services provided include investment advice, retirement and estate planning, risk management for both individuals and corporates, offshore trust services, advice on local trusts and wills, as well as medical aids.
It is Imara Asset Management's intention that these interns will be offered permanent positions as soon as they have reached the required level to operate independently as part of its team. It will only consider graduates who have attained the CFP qualification.
The posts will be available from mid-January onwards, so Imara Asset Management would like to start looking at CV’s with a view to interviewing once exams are over.
