Established in 1981 by Harry Edmonds and Cherry Whitehead, Inscape Design College is still the oldest privately-owned multi-disciplinary design college in South Africa.
Inscape Design College was registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training in 2000 under the Higher Education Act of 1997, for the NQF level 7 Bachelor of Design Degree and level 6 Diplomas in Interior Design, Graphic & Communication Design and Fashion Design.
Inscape's Bachelor of Design and Diploma programmes are also accredited by the Council of Higher Education (CHE).
Its Design Degree or Diplomas are internationally recognised as it is registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Courses
Inscape offers 3-year full-time Bachelor of Design Degrees or Diplomas in:
- Interior Design (also known as Interior Architecture), or
- Graphic and Communication Design (for print and Multimedia - also known as Information Design), or
- Fashion Design.
You need to have passed Visual Arts in Grade 12 to enrol for the Bachelor of Design degrees. If you did not take Visual Arts at school, you can enrol in our 1-year full-time Design Foundation bridging course.
Part-time and Full-timeor Correspondence Certificate courses in:
- Architectural Draughting - with AutoCAD or an optional Business module;
- Interior Decorating - with AutoCAD or an optional Business module;
- Clothing Design - with Photoshop or an optional Business module;
- Visual Design - Adobe Certified Associate;
- Digital Design - Adobe Certified Associate; and
- Digital Video - Adobe Certified Associate.
Three to five day courses in any of the following computer pro-grammes are offered:
- AutoCAD Essentials (2D)
- AutoCAD Advanced (advanced 2D and 3D)
- AutoCAD for Built Environment
- Revit Architectural, 3D Studio Max
- Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Inscape also offers short courses for business people working in the creative industries:
- Starting your own business; and
- Running a successful business.
