FEDISA is a private higher education institution at which one can pursue a career in the world of Fashion, be it as designer, editor, buyer, stylist or any of the other myriad of professional design careers that follow from an education at FEDISA.

FEDISA (Pty) Ltd was established to cater for the ever growing demand for tertiary level design education, by students wishing to equip themselves with the most subject appropriate skills and knowledge to compete successfully in the international world of design and its many interrelated components.

A great deal of emphasis is placed on developing Design Business Management expertise, through the Accredited Higher Education BA Fashion Design Degree programme offered by FEDISA.

FEDISA is registered by the Department of Education as a Private Provider of Higher Education, as well as the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education (CHE) to offer the BA: Fashion Design Degree.

FEDISA is also registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) as being registered by the Department of Education to offer the BA: Fashion Design Degree.

Entrance evaluation or Portfolio

There are two routes into FEDISA:

The first, and preferred, is the onsite entrance evaluation and interview. Once application documents have been received by the Head of Admissions, prospective students will be invited to the institute for an assessment session.

Students should note that the duration of the assessment is approximately two hours. No portfolio work is required in this instance.

Secondly, those applicants who are unable to present themselves at the institute for the assessment and interview may submit a prescribed portfolio of work together with the application documents. Please contact the institute for the prescribed format and content of the portfolio submission.

Foreign applicants or South African residents living abroad will be allowed to submit electronic copies of their portfolios, provided that these can be substantiated with the original if so required at a later stage.

Closing date for all applications

The closing date for preliminary applications each year is the 5 December.

Should you have missed the closing date, late applications will be considered until the 15 January, provided that there are still seats available. Please note that a “late application fee” is payable.

The result of the application will be communicated once the selection committee has made its decision.
