The National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP) offers bursaries on the Honours, Masters and Doctoral levels for students studying in Theoretical Physics.
These bursaries are available at ALL South African tertiary institutions. In cases where there is no formal program in Theoretical Physics, NITheP will endeavour to support graduate projects which qualify as being of a theoretical physics nature by involving co-supervisors from those institutions which do host such programs.
The current values and duration of the bursaries are as follow:
- Honours degree: R40 000 for one year full time study;
- Master’s degree: R55 000 for two years full time study or R36 666 for three years part time study; and
- Doctoral degree: R75 000 for three years full time study or R56 250 for four years part time study.
To apply for a bursary please complete the online application form.
The closing date is 30 November 2012.
If you are currently a NITheP bursary holder, and you qualify for an extension for your current degree, you only need to e-mail your proof of registration for 2013 and a progress report (signed by your supervisor) to the above e-mail address.
Note that if you completed your degree as a NITheP bursary holder in 2012, and wish to continue with a more advanced degree in 2013, you must submit a new application via the NITheP website.
